Bear is a big, fluffy dog looking for a home where he can be the only animal. Once he trusts you, he becomes very loving and loyal. He needs a calm environment and an owner who will give him time to warm up.
What Bear needs in a home:
- No other pets
- No young kids (he gets overwhelmed easily)
- A fenced yard or commitment to leashed walks until fully bonded
- Someone patient and experienced with dogs who need time to adjust
Good things to know:
- Walks well on leash and isn’t reactive on walks
- Doesn’t have separation anxiety or destructive habits
- Has mild anxiety in new places but handles it quietly
- Allergies are managed well with Apoquel (no recent issues)
- Responds to commands like “lay down” and “no”
- Likes relaxing at home but also enjoys hikes and car rides
- Has a thick coat that requires regular grooming
- Can jump 4-foot fences—should not be left in a yard unattended
Bear does enjoy his people once he’s built trust, but he’s not the kind of dog who will enjoy dog parks or busy homes. He prefers quiet companionship and a stable environment.
He has coexisted with a few calm dogs in his current home under supervision, but he generally doesn’t like high-energy or dominant dogs and is happiest without other dogs around.
Bear will do best with someone who understands that bonding takes time—and that the payoff is a sweet, loyal companion who just wants a peaceful home. Is Bear the big, lovable dog you've been looking for? Reach out to foster or adopt today!
