Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Finch is red tick coonhound with a voice like David Allen Coe. He has many typical hound tendencies like being vocal, constant curiosity and nose to the ground, but he is also very food motivated. He LOVES going on walks, treats, and is dog friendly and would like a dog brother or sister in his forever home. He is potty trained in his foster home that he has lived in for 2 years. Finch is a sensitive guy. He comes from a home where he was unsure of new people but generally tolerated them outside of the home. He is more protective of himself and his family when people enter his home if he is not comfortable with them. However, his foster mom has found that if they, along with the new person and his foster dog sister, goes for a walk outside then he's more comfortable allowing the new person inside the home when done. They have also found success if he is on leash and treated when the new person enters that also works well. We do not recommend small children as it can take him a while to feel comfortable and trust his surroundings. Finch will need a family committed to him and his future socialization if they want to have success with this gorgeous copper guy.

TAPS-Tazewell Animal Protective Society was founded in 1958 in Pekin Illinois in a building donated by the City of Pekin on River Road. In 1979, rapidly rising river water forced the evacuation of the animals. Once again, the City of Pekin stepped in and donated a building for the animals. Several moves later, and with the help and generosity of many volunteers and community members, TAPS now has a new home at 100 TAPS Lane. Last year we celebrated 50 year of caring for the homeless animals of Central Illinois.
