Meet Copper! 10 months old | ~57 lbs | Hound (likely Rhodesian Ridgeback mix- cue “Hound Dog” by Elvis)
Copper is the total package: cuddly, playful, and eager to be your new best friend! This sweet, curious pup thinks he’s a lap dog and loves nothing more than snuggling up after a good play session. He’s still got that classic puppy energy and charm, with a goofy streak that will keep you smiling.
Copper is currently living with another dog and, after a slightly overexcited first meet, they’re now best buds! We believe he would do well with another dog companion given a proper introduction. He’s a social guy who does well with people and could likely do well with kids given continued guidance—he’s smart and picks up on training quickly. He hasn’t met cats yet.
He’s housebroken (only marked once when first arriving) and already goes to the door when he needs out. Crate training is a work in progress—he settles in fine but sometimes barks a bit. He walks nicely on leash but gets excited when he sees other dogs, so continued training and socialization will be key! Luckily, he’s super food-motivated and eager to please!
Copper knows:“Sit,” “Down,” “Come,” “Shake,” “Free” (release cue), and is learning leash pressure work. He’s built a great foundation and is ready for someone to keep him learning!
Ideal home:Copper is medium energy, and would thrive with an active or moderately active family who can give him both physical exercise and mental stimulation. He’d love to be your hiking buddy and adventure pal, but is also content lounging on the couch when it’s time to chill. He has a great off switch in the home. We believe he’d fit right into a lot of households. Copper is full of potential and heart, and he’s ready for someone to help him shine. He’s truly such a cool dog with so much love to give!
Copper was pulled off of the euthanasia list and is being fostered by me through OKC Animal Welfare. You may have seen him in a viral TikTok or news article. He is neutered and up to date on all vaccines and preventatives. Please contact me if you’re interested in giving him his forever home!
