Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Marvin and Quincy are a bonded pair of brother rats who are looking for a loving home together. These two spend much of their time cuddling, grooming each other, and just enjoying each other’s company, so they must be adopted as a pair. Marvin is the quieter, more laid-back brother. He’s incredibly sweet and loves being held, especially if treats are involved! His favorite snacks are bananas and Cheerios, and he’s happiest when he’s snuggled up in your hands or relaxing with his brother nearby. Quincy is the adventurous one of the duo. He’s curious, playful, and always on the move! Quincy loves climbing around his cage—and his people too. One of his favorite spots is perched on your shoulder, where he can observe everything going on. He’s a big fan of toys and will excitedly race over to greet you when you come say hello. Together, Marvin and Quincy are affectionate, social, and full of personality. They’re looking for a home that will enjoy handling, playtime, and lots of bonding moments with these two special boys. If you’re looking to add a pair of loving, entertaining companions to your life, Marvin and Quincy might be the perfect match! 🐀💙🐀
Adoption fee for one rat is $12, each additional adopted at the same time has a discounted adoption fee of $8.
As most of our small animals are in fostercare, if you're ready to adopt now and want to learn more about this pet, the best way to start the process is to call us (413-781-4000 x 1) or email us at springfield@dakinhumane.org. If you already have a cage, please send a picture of your cage when you inquire.
Are you looking for a smart, adorable, AND interactive pet!? Well look no further than ME!
We can live between 2-3 years.
Housing requirements: Most housing sold at pet stores is too small for small pets. They are going to be spending most of their lives inside their cage; your housing must be as large as the below or larger (bigger is always better!) in order to adopt this pet.
- 1-2 rats - 3’ x 2’ x 2’
- Double Critter Nation cages also make an excellent home for rats.
- We recommend solid bottom, powder coated wire cages. The bigger, the better! They love houses with multiple levels connected by ramps.
Rats are a social species, meaning the company of their own kind is critical to their health and well being.
- If there are two names listed together (eg Peanut Butter w/Jelly), that means that the two animals are a bonded pair of friends, and must be adopted together.
- If there are more than two animals listed together (eg Peanut Butter w/Jelly and Toast), the group is to be adopted together. If there are 4 or more listed together, they can be adopted in pairs or trios - we just can’t leave a single alone.
Got a single at home you’re looking for a friend for? Any rat listed alone on our website is a single and a great candidate; if there is a group of 3 or more, usually one can be taken out of that group as a companion for your single.
- Rat friends must be same sex, unless your current single is already neutered.
- A new friend will need a separate cage until friendship has been established
