Like the spirit, Bourbon is smooth, full of personality, and impossible not to love. Bourbon has a way of making any day feel a little warmer. He’s a good mix of laid-back and lively - never too much, but definitely not boring. He matches the energy of his people. Want to be active? He’s right there with you. Want to relax? He’s happy to join you.
Even though he’s an adult (3 years old, 54ish pounds), it’s like Bourbon is finally getting to be the dog he was always meant to be. His past wasn’t the easiest, but you’d never guess it. He’s all about snuggles, soft paw taps for attention, and following his people around like he’s their biggest fan. His ability to trust is something special, and watching him blossom is a real joy. He loves adults and has been very gentle with the children he’s met.
Bourbon is a sweetheart. He’ll curl up with you on the couch, happily accept belly rubs (he even asks for them), and hang out while you go about your day. He does like his own space to sleep most nights – his beauty sleep is important, after all. And when he’s excited? B’s tippy-taps are the best and his zoomies are spectacular.
He’s still learning the ropes when it comes to training, but he’s getting there. When something clicks for him, it’s a moment worth celebrating! He knows sit, down, wait, walks well on leash around the neighborhood, and is crate and potty trained. He even knows to not go into the kitchen! One thing he’s working hard on is refocusing when another dog is around, but he’s making progress (he’s easier to refocus outside than inside). He’s met a few dogs and prefers calmer dogs over ones that pull towards or barks at him.
He’s easygoing when it comes to his favorite things. He’ll let you take a squeaky ball right out of his mouth, sit patiently while you set his food down, and hand over a bully stick or pig ear when snack time is over.
