Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Meet Max – Your New Adventure Buddy, Snuggle Sidekick, and Tangle-Leash Enthusiast
Max is approximately 8 months old, 25 pounds of scruffy charm, and possibly part Jack Russell Terrier, part pogo stick. This goofy little dude is equal parts snuggly lovebug and outdoor adventure machine. He’s got medium-to-high energy, which means he’ll happily join you for a hike, a game of chase with the other dogs, or a spirited attempt to walk in a straight line (he’s still perfecting that last one… but he does consider leash-tangling an art form).
Max loves other dogs of all shapes, sizes, and play styles. He’s very respectful and reads the room well—if a dog wants space, he gets it (MOST of the time). If a dog wants to wrestle, game on. He’s also living with kids aged 1, 3, and 5 and is doing great with them, but because he’s still a puppy who enjoys hopping like popcorn and giving very enthusiastic kisses, supervision is key—unless your kids are dog-savvy ninjas.
We’re working on basic manners, and Max has almost mastered “sit” (he’s really proud of this). “Off” and “no jumping” are a work in progress, as is “please don’t be mouthy.” He’s crate trained and happily eats his dinner in his crate. He doesn’t chew your shoes (bless him), and while he’s still figuring out what toys are, we think he’ll learn to love them once he realizes they’re not just oddly shaped decor.
Max spent 2.5 months in a Texas shelter before making his way to Vermont, and while we don’t think he’s ever lived in a home before, he’s settling into the good life like a pro. He loves his people and sticks close when outside, so we think he’ll have great off-leash potential once he’s fully trained. And yes—after a good romp, he does settle down and nap like a little angel. He’s not “go, go, go” all day—more like “go, nap, go, snuggle, repeat.”
He’s neutered, microchipped, up to date on vaccines, and has a clean bill of health. Now he’s just waiting for his forever people—preferably ones who enjoy outdoor fun, occasional chaos, and lots of laughs.
Think Max might be your kind of weird? He’s ready to meet you! Fill out an application at pottersangelsrescue.org/adopt
