My personality

My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Chocolate: 5 yr old chocolate male Miniature Pinscher, neutered, undocked tail and uncropped ears. 14 inches tall, 17 lbs. Fully vetted. Rescued from shelter.

Chocolate came into the shelter extremely overweight. So far, he has gone from a whopping 24 lbs in the shelter to 17 lbs with IMPS MinPin Rescue.

He feels SO much better with his new energy as you can see in his video. He was extremely fearful in the shelter and is doing better with his foster home. They are working on socializing him on frequent walks and getting him used to other dogs. He's coming along nicely!

Chocolate is a special little guy. He was found on the streets & was morbidly obese. He has since slimmed down & learned to live in a home with another Pup. He takes a while to warm up to his human but does like to cuddle almost immediately!

His history is unknown but we do know he is a strong little guy with a heart that yearns to feel safe.

He is currently in a foster home with a big, very chill dog but it took him awhile to understand that he doesn't need to be fearful, his foster brother didn't want to hurt him.
He now happily walks up to his foster brother, sniffs him & tries to engage in play!

He arrived at his foster home scared of everything & everyone but has come such a long way. He now lets strangers give him treats & will curiously walk up to some of them. He is HIGHLY food/treat motivated. He LOVES Pup cups!
Chocolate is working on his social skills and manners and will sit & wait for people & other dogs to pass on walks. He will also sit & pose for the camera as you can see in his photos and videos!

He loves to cuddle after dinner. He likes sleeping in the bed with his humans but can also sleep in a crate if you rather. He is potty trained & is working on "place". He has also gone on nature hikes & knows "out" (of the kitchen). He has 2 little stuffies he'll play with sometimes & his zoomies are the cutest!

As you can see in his video, his newfound energy from his weight loss makes him love to run in the park or a yard! He's good in the car but travels in a crate due to his desire to constantly jump from the back seat to the front and back again. He does not like to be carried but has allows us to slowly manipulate his body which we've been working on to eventually desensitize him to being picked up.

Chocolate has great training potential once he feels safe & secure. He needs a forever family willing to give him time, compassion, understanding, gentle guidance & love.

Note: Chocolate is located in San Diego, CA - and we will not fly this boy.

Their adoption process

Additional adoption info

. Prior to finalizing an adoption we do a vet check if you currently have pets living in your home, a reference check, and a home check to ensure that your home is safe for a minpin. A signed adoption contract is required. Our adoption fees are based on the age of the dog, plus the out of pocket vet expensed incurred by IMPS. All of our dogs are spayed/neutered, microchiped, and are up to date on their vaccines prior to placement. You can view the contract, our adoption application, and other important information about IMPS on our website at www.minpinrescue.org.
