Meet Ruger - A Calm and Loving Guy Looking for His Forever Home! 🐾
Ruger is a sweet, calm dog with a heart of gold. He doesn't bark much, but he's got a lot of love to give. Ruger was surrendered to us after he was herding small animals on a farm, and while he's never been an indoor dog, he would absolutely love to be. Ruger is ready to experience the comforts of home life and is eager for all the love and attention he can get.
When he first arrived, Ruger didn't know how to walk on a leash, but with some patience, he's already learning how much fun it can be to explore the world around him! Ruger is a quick learner and shows great promise as he continues to discover the joys of daily walks and outings.
This calm, loving guy is looking for a home where he can continue to grow and thrive, surrounded by people who will appreciate his gentle nature. If you're looking for a loyal companion who's ready to settle in and be your best friend, Ruger is your guy!
Ruger went to an adoption event this past weekend and handled everything just like you would expect of a gentleman! He greeted everyone who came to meet him with respect and a gentle tail wag. He also rode well in the car on the way to the event. Primary Color: Blue Secondary Color: Brown Weight: 61.4 Age: 6yrs 8mths 3wks

More about this shelter
Dogwood Animal Shelter is a non-profit, no-kill shelter.
Since its infancy, compassionate, like-minded volunteers have been the driving force behind Dogwood Animal Shelter. Through auctions and sales, a handful of dedicated people raised enough money to build its first, albeit small facility and was established as a 501(c) 3 in 1976. It was filled beyond capacity almost immediately.
The shelter is funded entirely from donations and proceeds from their Dogwood Animal Shelter Thrift Store.
After years of saving, planning and busting at the seams with fur-babies, in 2005 it was time to build a new facility with their own in-house clinic! Under the direction of Dr. John Reinhold and coupled with a very dedicated and gifted team of Veterinarians and staff, Dogwood Animal Shelter continues to offer low cost spays and neuters to the public as well as services to their shelter buddies; services to approximately 2,000 dogs and cats yearly!
Dogwood Animal Shelter began their journey of being a successful no-kill shelter in 1997, and since then has saved over 40,000 lives!
