My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Dorcas, was brought to our rescue as a stray cat that was about to give birth on the street. Before being in our care, we were told she lived on the streets and ate left overs out of people's garbage. It was quiet obvious she wasn't a feral cat but had lived a rough life, she needed people, but also was also smart enough to be careful around them. She gave birth about three days after we got her and was a very good, protective mother. My guess is this wasn't her first litter and in order for them to survive she knew she had to protect them. Her kittens were such super stars they were quickly adopted. However, being an adult black cat Dorcas has not had as much luck finding a forever home. And after getting to know her, it breaks my heart.

She has transformed into such a loving thankful kitty. As far as cats in my care go, she has been one of the lowest maintenance. She is very affectionate and loves to snuggle, but she also can give you space and perfectly content to find games and activities to keep her busy.

I will attempt to attach a youtube video of her playing, but if it's not done send me a quick email and I can get you clips. Based on her playful spirit, you would think she's a kitten. She love's running around, tossing toys in the air and chasing them, and loves trying out any new cat toys I buy. When she's in a really playful mood she does a skippy bowlegged run, it's so cute.

At bed time, she is happy to sleep where you ask, but her favorite spot is to sleep in bed next to or on top of you, kind of like a weighted blanket, that is designing to help with stress and anxiety.

She was originally on the streets, so she is a smart cookie and knows how to survive outside, but she prefers indoors. She was accidentally let outside by cat sitter and stayed near the backdoor until we got home and could let her inside.

Since I mentioned preferring indoors, I should add one of her favorite pieces of furniture is a cat sized sofa couch, if you adopt her we may be willing to let the chair go with her as well.

She would do best as a single kitty, and doesn't play well with others. I've even seen her go after large dogs, she's tough. But on that same note, there are some cats she gets along with, so I wouldn't say other cats are off the table I just know she doesn't love them.

If you are interested in adopting two cats, let me know. Another cat in my care gets a long with her well, not best friends but they do like to sleep in bed together.
