My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Miss Dolly – A Bright, Bouncy Terrier with a Big Personality!

Miss Dolly is an adorable 13-week-old terrier mix who’s full of energy, curiosity, and growing confidence. She made the long journey from Texas with her sister, arriving shy and unsure of people, but this little girl has blossomed beautifully in her foster home.

Dolly is smart as a whip—she picked up “sit” and “down” in her very first training session and is eager to learn more, especially when treats are involved. She’s crate-trained, settles in quietly at night, and usually keeps her crate clean. During the day, she remains a calm and quiet companion, happily observing her surroundings or finding a cozy spot to rest.

Housebreaking is going well, and Dolly uses pee pads, although her aim isn’t always perfect (but we love her for it!). She hasn’t started leash training just yet, but with her treat motivation and willingness to learn, it’s sure to be a smooth process. Dolly is cat-friendly—she mostly ignores the feline residents of her foster home, who seem completely unbothered by her presence.

Though Dolly is expected to grow into a sweet little lap dog, she’s definitely not one to laze around all day. She loves the outdoors and is happiest when she has something to explore. Because of her shy beginnings, she’ll do best in a home with patient humans and children old enough to let her come to them on her own terms.

Miss Dolly is well on her way to becoming a loyal, loving companion—and she’s ready to find her forever home where she can continue to thrive.

Our standard adoption fee is $375 if paid by cash or check, or $385 if paid by credit card (which includes a $10 processing fee). This fee covers spay/neuter surgery when age appropriate at one of our participating veterinarians, age-appropriate core vaccinations, fecal testing, deworming, flea and tick preventative, and microchipping.

In order to be considered for adoption, we require a fully completed application, a phone interview, and a meet-and-greet with your entire family. Please note that submitting an application does not commit you to adopting and does not guarantee approval—it simply allows us to begin the review process.

If you are interested in adopting or would like additional information, please email us at adopt@safehavendogsIL.org to request an application.

Keep in mind that the breed and size listed in each dog's biography are our best educated guesses and are not guaranteed.

Safe Haven Dog Rescue reserves the right to refuse the adoption of any dog or puppy to any applicant for any reason.
