Meet Erik: The Perfect Companion
Erik is a charming 2-year-old dog with a unique blend of breeds—Magyar Agar and Whippet. If you're unfamiliar with these breeds, you're not alone! Both are similar to Greyhounds and known for their sleek, athletic build. While Erik may have the looks of these graceful hounds, he is a smaller, more compact package, making him the perfect size for any home.
Erik's Health and Training
Erik is in excellent health. He's fully vetted, with all necessary vaccines, a microchip, and has been neutered. Importantly, he's heartworm negative, ensuring he's ready for a long, healthy life with his forever family.
In addition to his health credentials, Erik is crate trained and walks well on a leash. He's a smart boy who quickly picks up on new commands and routines. Erik loves all people but he can be a bit dog selective.
Erik's Journey
It's a mystery how Erik ended up in a kill shelter, but the moment we saw him, we knew we had to rescue him. His vibrant personality and ever-wagging tail make him the happiest boy around. Despite being with us for a year, it’s not fair that such a handsome and friendly dog is still waiting for his forever home.

Erik is available for adoption or foster through Barking Mad Animal Rescue. He truly deserves a loving home where he can share his joy and affection. If you’re interested in bringing Erik into your life, please fill out the adoption application through the provided link.

More about this rescue
BMAR is a No-Kill facility: a place of safety for healthy adoptable animals, a home for the homeless, a haven for the mistreated, neglected, or abused animals of Sabine & surrounding counties. BMAR also runs a sanctuary for those deemed unadoptible due to medical and behavior issues.
100% Volunteer Rescue. We have no animal control, Humane Society, or SPCA operating in our area leaving animals in dire straights.
BMAR is dedicated to the prevention of cruelty & abuse to all animals & livestock.
We currently only adopt to states and Canada where we have a network in place to monitor animals and help with problems.
BMAR backs it's dogs for life and will take back no matter how long and at any time if circumstance arise and you cannot keep your pet.
