Meet Scout!

Scout was found at a regular dumping ground. He was starting to get into some trouble just trying to find food and 1 of our fosters picked him up to keep him safe.

He weighs 30 pounds and is estimated at 6 years old. We can tell he’s had a rough life and unfortunately he is heartworm positive. We have started him on Doxycycline and he will come with a year supply of Heartgard. Hopefully once the year supply of Heartgard is completed he will be heartworm negative. If not, he will continue Heartgard until he eventually will test negative.

Scout is super nervous at first and he will need some time to learn that he is safe. We are going to do all we can to help him feel safe as soon as possible. He definitely will need a fence to keep him safe (hounds and their noses can get in trouble without fencing) and confident doggy friend to help him learn he will be ok. BTW Tango is his best buddy. If Tango is adopted and interested in an automatic best buddy for him, Scout will have no adoption fee.

The adoption fee is $100
Which covers SOME of the cost of spay/neuter, shots, microchip, heartworm test, grooming (if needed), deworming, flea/tick/heartworm prevention, and supplies while in our care. The pet MUST be kept on heartworm prevention all of their life.

The application is to be completed prior to meeting the pet(s) you are interested in adopting. If they are still on the page, they are still more than likely still available.

Once a pet is adopted from our rescue, they MUST be returned to us, if you cannot keep them. If you plan on not keeping them their whole lives, please do not apply.

You must be willing to love and keep your pet FURever. If you can’t promise to do everything in your power to keep them, please don’t apply.

FURever FURkids Sanctuary & Rescue is a small home-based sanctuary and rescue for dogs (primarily) near the Chattanooga, TN area. All pets that come here, are fully vetted before being placed into loving homes. We do NOT have a public shelter. To meet our pets, you must have an approved application on file and we will bring them to your home, or meet in 1 of our few meeting spaces.

More about this rescue

Established in 2011, FURever FURkids Sanctuary & Rescue is a privately run rescue.

All of our sanctuary/rescue pets have come from situations such as being on death row at shelters, owners who can no longer keep them, or even rescued from heartbreaking situations.

Each rescued pet is kept in foster homes until a FURever home is found. If no home can be found, they become a sanctuary pet. Every pet is spayed/neutered (if of age), current on age appropriate vaccines, microchipped, and dogs are heartworm tested, (if the dog is over 6 months) prior to adoption.

The adoption process requires an adoption application. If the application looks good, we will contact your veterinarian for a reference (if applicable). If that checks out, we will schedule a home check (for the safety of our rescues). If local, we will come to your home. If you are not local, we will need several pictures and/or a video of your home/yard to complete the home check. Finally, if approved, you will fill out an adoption contract and pay the pets set adoption fee (which varies).

FURever FURkids Sanctuary & Rescue has adopted out hundreds of animals since we began. We have a professional working relationship as a rescue with many other area rescues, vets, shelters and spay/neuter clinics in the area.
