My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Don't let her adorably grumpy face fool you! Munie is a beautiful tabby with a gentle personality and big, curious eyes. She has about 14 teeth pulled, and her front remaining tooth gives her the most adorable snaggle lip! How can you resist that face?!?!

She’s friendly, talkative, and absolutely loves attention — especially once she feels at home. She will make herself right at home within a day of meeting you!

Once she’s comfortable, she’s incredibly affectionate. She’s become quite the lap cat — often curling up beside or right on top of her favorite person. She enjoys pets, loves a cozy nap, and will happily chat with you throughout the day. She loves to rub her face into your hand, saying "pets please!".

Munie has a clear sense of what she’s comfortable with and appreciates when those boundaries are respected. She would prefer a child-free home (she's retired!).

If you're looking for a loving, low-key companion with a soft purr and a sweet personality, Munie might be your perfect fit. She’s ready to find a forever home where she can relax, be adored, and nap in peace.

This cat would prefer to be adopted alone and be the only cat in the home.

Munie was rescued with dental issues and had surgery. We would be thrilled for a potential adopter to provide a larger adoption donation (between $250 and $400 total) and/or assistance crowdsourcing funds towards their necessary vet bills if possible.

This cat is FIV+ and will live a normal healthy and long life when provided with quality care such as a balanced diet and yearly wellness exams (like any cat). As FIV+ is not transmittable between neutered/spayed cats under normal circumstances, we are happy for FIV+ cats to mingle with FIV- cats in their adoptive homes.

More about this rescue

Our rescue group was formed in December 2007, but all our Board Members have had extensive experience rescuing and working with abandoned animals. We often work with other rescue organizations to find appropriate and safe foster and adoptive homes for our pet clients. We regularly go to areas with abandoned animals and collect them. The animals are taken to a licensed veterinarian examined, treated and spayed or neutered. Every effort is made to work with the animal and our foster and adoptive families to find a suitable forever home.

For those animals who are truly wild and feral, we release the animal in a safe and secure location after it has recovered from its medical treatment. We also work with certified wildlife rehabilitators to rescue injured and orphaned wildlife. Our organization is focused on improving the welfare of the abandoned animals in need of help in Brooklyn. In furthering that goal, our resources are focused on the animals.

Aside from a few minimal overhead costs such as our website and phone services, our entire budget is spent on animal care such as medical and food costs.
