Here's what the humans have to say about me:
My name is Huntley and I’m looking for my forever home. I’m 7 y.o. and weigh 36 lbs. I came to my foster home here in Monroe, WI, from a commercial breeding facility where I helped make lots of puppies. I’m liking retirement so far. I was scared at first, but once I got to know foster mom and dad and met the other dogs here, I started to relax. There are so many new things to do and see. And the food is so good!! When foster mom and dad cook, I follow them around and do my very best “sit” for a treat. Foster mom and dad are really nice. It feels so good when they give me pets and scratches. I just lean into their hand and I’m in heaven! I love other dogs! I like playing, cuddling, and taking care of other dogs if they’re feeling scared. The other dogs are teaching me games and I get so excited when we play. I’ve met a cat and a guinea pig and I made friends with both of them too. But little kids make me nervous. I bark to make sure they keep their distance. Older kids are less scary, but I’m still not sure about them. I am a very good boy! Foster mom says so. I’m potty trained and I am well behaved when left alone at home with the other resident dogs. I sleep, or chew on my bone, or watch out the window. I walk politely on leash. The further you go, the happier I get! I’m a smart boy too. I love puzzle toys and I also learned how to open the baby gate if it isn’t securely latched. I’m a healthy boy – neutered and vaccinated. I tested positive for Lyme disease, but I don’t feel bad or have any signs of disease, so the vet said that no treatment is necessary. My perfect forever home will have another nice dog or more for me to play with. No small children, please! They scare me too much. I’d do best with humans who know about skittish dogs like me. If you live in the Midwest and are looking for a smart, affectionate and really good boy like me, visit www.savingshibas.com/adopt for more information and to apply to become an approved SIRA adopter. The application process helps SIRA get to know you and your home environment so they can make sure we’ll be a good match. Once approved, they’ll introduce you to my foster mom so we can meet! I can’t wait!
