Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Joe is SUCH a special boy and has truly captured our hearts here at the shelter. One of our longer-term residents, this sweet guy is ready to find his forever family! With his adorable face and equally charming personality, Joe is sure to win you over in no time.
Full of energy and enthusiasm, Joe loves to stay busy. Whether he’s tossing around his toys, chewing on a bone, or running off with a rope or stuffed toy, he’s great at keeping himself entertained. He has a dominant play style that can sometimes feel a little intense for other dogs, so slow introductions are important. That said, Joe currently lives happily in a foster home with three other dogs — proving he can blend in beautifully when given the chance.
Joe’s curiosity can make him a bit too interested in cats, so a feline-free home would be best. He does great with kids, especially when his training is reinforced (he’s still learning that not everyone loves puppy paws on their shoulders!).
Goofy, affectionate, and incredibly smart, Joe picks up new things FAST. He’s food-motivated, knows his basic commands and tricks, and is both potty and crate trained.
Joe would thrive in an active family who can keep up with his adventurous spirit and continue his training journey. He’s ready to be your loyal companion for hikes, playtime, and snuggles galore!
Could Joe be the perfect match for you? Come meet this special boy and see why we love him so much!

More about this shelter
We are a non-profit organization out of Monticello, IA specializing in the care for dogs and cats that need us. Our care does not stay local, as we take transports from all over the United States, and adopt all over as well!
Our mission's primary focus is to help reduce the homeless pet population by finding homes for spayed/neutered pets, and helping educate WHY this process is so important, and the proper way to care for pets!
