IZZY is an 11 yr old long-haired kitty who was surrendered to us because she was having accidents outside litter box. Her family took her to the vet but nothing seemed to help and, since her owner was disabled, they were no longer able to cope with the situation.
Izzy was, not surprisingly, shut down when she arrived here when one of our wonderful foster moms stepped up to give her sanctuary in her bedroom. (Thanks, Gabbey!).
Izzy was seen by Crest View Animal Clinic, LLC and her urinalysis was clear. By process of elimination, we deducted that her poor little declawed paws are sore from arthritis and hurt when she digs in the litter. We got her the softest, cloud like litter that we could find (OkoCat Super Soft) and, voila! She started using the box again. She also got an injection Solensia, for pain/inflammation which will also help if there is inflammation in her urinary tract. Izzy is now using the litter box every time and she gets a treat afterwards too!
Izzy is a shy kitty and would do well in a quiet home. She would be a wonderful companion for somebody who is home much of the day.
We know it’s hard to take in a kitty who had accidents in the past but Izzy is looking to put the past behind her. And hopefully the cruel practice of declawing will soon be in the past too. But if you’re looking for a sweet kitty who has been declawed and just needs a little extra TLC, Izzy is your gal!
