Bellatrix is a sweet, affectionate, well mannered girl who loves bones and squeaky toys. She’s about 60lbs and is a slim, tall dog. Bellatrix is good with older kids; we expect she’d be fine with younger kids too, but she hasn’t ever met any to say for certain. She walks well on leash and rides politely in cars. This girl is a volunteer favorite!
She will likely need a home with no other pets. Bellatrix came to SAAP in 2020 as a mama dog with her puppies. At that time, she got along with calm dogs in foster care, but she has lived as an only pet for the past 5 years and is no longer used to being around other animals. She will chase cats.
Bellatrix is available for foster-to-adopt, so if you have a very calm dog, you could inquire about fostering her and try doing slow introductions to see if she could adapt to a new dog friend given some time. SAAP is happy to provide support and advice should you go this route.
Bellatrix is house trained, spayed, vaccinated, microchipped, and up to date on flea/heartworm prevention. She was crate trained in the past (preferred a plastic airline crate) but has not used one in recent years.
