Callie Although I don`t look my age, I am 13-years-old and weigh 16.1 pounds. You can see I am a beautiful Calico lady. I have a lot to recommend me to a new forever owner. I got along great with the children I grew up with. I don`t mind if you want to pick me up and hold me; if I want down, I will get squirmy. I am very affectionate and love to lay on or next to my people as much as possible. I can become skittish when I meet a stranger and keep my distance until they sit down. Once I see they mean no harm, I will investigate them and ask for some attention! I`m not a real fan of playtime with toys. However, I will get excited once in a blue moon and romp with catnip-stuffed toys. But at thirteen, my idea of a good time is a nap in the sunshine. I was so happy to see the interviewer lady (IL) open my door I went right up to her giving her head butts and licking her arm. I let her pet me all over and give me some ear scratches. Affection always makes me hungry, so I began to eat my breakfast. I was spayed long ago when I lived with my first owner. Nearly five years ago, I was given to my latest owner. Due to landlord issues, I was surrendered to HSHC on May 12. Soon, I developed an upper respiratory infection, for which I was treated, and I have recovered. You probably also noted that I am a chunky monkey! When you are a senior citizen and overweight, arthritis tends to make exercise painful. The HSHC`s medical examination revealed some conditions that require medication. I have high blood pressure, obesity, blood clots in my kidneys, and dental disease. Medications and diet help control these conditions. I will need a gradual introduction to your home and any household members. The HSHC staff will provide all the information you need to help me transition to your house! 6-11-25

With an open admission policy, a No-Kill philosophy, and more than 3,100 animals crossing our threshold each year, we have still maintained a 98% placement rate over the last 3 years.
This is an amazing feat for any organization…let alone one that takes in some of the most abused, injured and seriously ill animals imaginable.
