September 2025 –  More great photos of Shrimp (white/calico) and Red Fish (orange tabby)! They’ll be so happy to have a FURR-ever home.  Learn more about their amazing story below.

May 19, 2025  RED FISH (orange tabby) & SHRIMP (white/calico) have come back & are in Room 3. They are doing really well considering & need LOTS of gentle love. SHRIMP will hiss at everyone, but she is just scared & you can pet & love on her. RED FISH is super sweet but scared. These poor cats have been gone TWO years & now back at FURR. I love them both & will see to it that their future WILL be better!

April 2023 -  Read Shrimp & Red Fish's wonderful  fostering success story !

Early 2023 - Shrimp is a tiny but colorful girl who is longing for someone to love her! She came from a rough place early in her life but she has made huge progress and just needs some reassurance and a little love. She is so soft and beautiful and loves to be petted and brushed. She is a gentle girl but still a little shy and ready for the next step in her little life. She gets along great with other non-dominant cats that won't pick on her. If you want a gorgeous, sweet and quiet little kitty to love, this is your girl! FURR adopts to approved homes only in the Hampstead/Wilmington area.

More about this rescue

F.U.R.R. is a small, non-profit organization made up of volunteers that have rescued and helped hundreds of cats that were in dire need and had no other humans to turn to. These include injured cats, sick cats, feral cats, cats whose owners had died without making arrangements for their pets, abandoned cats that were left when their owners moved, homeless mom cats with kittens, homeless kittens whose mom cat had died…the list goes on and on. Basically they are mostly homeless and unwanted cats that would have been euthanized in a shelter, died on the streets from an illness or accident, or continued to reproduce and add to the cat overpopulation problem.

Not only has F.U.R.R. helped the cats, but we've also helped many people in our community, people who have feral or stray cats overpopulation problems. Equally important is that many, many F.U.R.R. rescued kitties have been adopted and are now safe and loved!

Our cats and kittens are adopted to families and individuals to approved homes. An interview and a completed adoption application are required, and you will have the opportunity to meet the cat or kitten you are interested in. All applications will be carefully screened, and veterinary and personal references will be called.

All F.U.R.R. cats and kittens have been tested for FIV, FeLV, heartworms, and have been treated for parasites (fleas, worms, ear mites). They also receive distemper/combo vaccinations, a 1 year rabies vaccination, and are already spayed or neutered if old enough.

There is an adoption fee but this is a very small price to pay for a fully vetted cat or kitten, and the love you will receive from your new kitty!

Some of our kitties are residing in foster homes, but most of them live in the F.U.R.R. rescue facility, while they are waiting to be adopted. If you would like to meet a particular cat, or would like to meet several of the kitties, please contact Terry at adoptafurrcat@gmail.com to arrange a visit to meet the kitties.

You can also visit us at our web site at http://www.catfurr.org.

F.U.R.R. is only able to rescue these wonderful cats & kittens because of donations from kind and generous people like you. Please help save a kitty's life by making a contribution to F.U.R.R.! Your donations are used for testing for FIV, FeLV, heartworms, vaccinations, and spay/neuter for rescued cats and kittens. Every $ counts and gets us that much closer to saving another kitty!
