Steven is an active, social dog who brings a wonderful mix of playful energy and affectionate sweetness. He loves running, chasing toys, and playing tug of war, but he also becomes a soft, snuggly companion the moment you scratch behind his ears. He keeps his handlers laughing with his goofy charm and leans in for affection once he has burned off some energy.
During enrichment time in the large grassy run, Steven sprints around enthusiastically and enjoys chasing tennis balls. He also appreciates cuddles and willingly settles for petting. At times, when he becomes overly excited during play, he may nip at clothing. He redirects easily with treats and calms down quickly when guided with clear, positive cues.
Steven walks back to his kennel without any issues and handles transitions smoothly. He has also been described as well-behaved in the car and friendly during outings.
Steven has been in the shelter since mid-May and is beginning to show signs of stress from the environment. He thrives on activity, engagement, and human connection and will do best in a home that can offer structure, exercise, and affection. Steven is ready to brighten someone’s life with his playful spirit and loving nature.
Adoptions are free and include support from our adoption team to ensure a smooth transition from the shelter to your home. Adopted pets are vaccinated, microchipped, and spayed/neutered before leaving with you. To view our current available animals, please visit: https://indy.gov/activity/adopt-a-pet.
