My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet the cutest boy around, Ollie!

Ollie is approximately a 3-year-old cocker spaniel. We were told he  is pure-bred, but we have no way to know if that is true. We love him regardless. Oliver was adopted from the Yolo County SPCA a couple of years ago, but unfortunately, he is looking for a new home again. While his family loves him, they have come to accept that he needs to be the only animal.

He has been living with his current family for 2 years and has become a very well-mannered young dog who has all basic commands, walks perfectly next to his mom, and loves to spend his free time in the yard chasing bugs in the grass or getting belly rubs. He is crate trained and sleeps in a crate all night with no difficulties.

Ollie is a little bit shy and will need a family who will give him a few minutes to get acclimated to new people in his space. Once he is ready, however, he will very quickly become a lap dog to guests and even will do a booty bump to encourage more pets if they stop.

Ollie is quick to settle down and really just wants to lie next to you on the couch and snuggle for hours. He does have minor separation anxiety and will whine for your attention upon return, but so far has not displayed any destructive behavior. He may also get excited to see you and accidentally piddle on the floor.

Ollie is a cocker spaniel, which means grooming includes regular ear cleanings, trips to the groomer, and daily brushing to keep his coat from matting. Ollie has been trained on baths and now takes them like a champ!  His current groomer loves him and hopes she’ll get to keep seeing him.

Ollie’s owners have fallen in love with him, unfortunately, he is currently in a house with other dogs and cats, and needs to be in a single animal household with either teenagers or no children. Ollie will do best with an experienced family who can do daily walks with access to a yard where he can really let his sniffer go wild with all the scents. His new family will need to ensure his poop is cleaned up regularly as Ollie does suffer from coprophagia.

Overall, Ollie is a character with a goofy personality and loving demeanor.  Ollie will be staying with his current family until his next best friend can be found to help him continue gaining confidence as he matures.

Ollie's adoption fee is $450.

Apply to adopt here!  https://form.jotform.com/52017002013129/

Applications are also available on the website (www.yolospca.org

It can take up to 3-5 business days to hear back once you have submitted an application.

The Yolo County SPCA is a private, not-for-profit, foster home-based animal rescue organization and does not have a shelter. All our animals awaiting adoption are in foster homes.

Our adoption fees help us cover the cost of spay/neuter surgery, microchip and registration, and rabies vaccination (if over 4 months of age at intake or spay/neuter) for all animals. Dogs are tested for heartworm, started on preventatives, and given a DAPP vaccination. Adult dogs are up to date on their vaccinations prior to adoption. Puppies will be current on the vaccinations appropriate to their age. The adopter is responsible for additional vaccinations as necessary after the adoption.
