My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Hi there, I’m Atticus! I’m a good boy with a big heart and adorable underbite! I'm two-years-old and 55lbs of sweetness. Not long ago, I was left in a crate at the doorstep of Abandoned Pet Rescue in the middle of the night. It was dark and quiet, and I didn’t know what would happen next. But kind people took me in, and since then my world has been filled with love and hope.

I’m the kind of pup who believes every new person is a new friend. I adore humans and show it by giving hugs, leaning in close for cuddles, and rolling over for belly rubs. My favorite adventures include trips to the beach, running around the park, rolling in the grass, and relaxing by your side. I love games of fetch, tasty treats, and showing off my goofy smile. I’m also happy to show you the tricks I know plus I am crate trained already. I’m looking for an active family that understands that exercise, enrichment and structure are good for young pups like me. I do play well with other friendly dogs once we are property introduced.

If you think that might be you, please fill out an application at AbandonedPetRescue.org. If you’d like to follow my journey and see more of my charming personality, you can find me on Instagram at @Atticus_apr.

More about this shelter

Abandoned Pet Rescue (APR) is one of the largest no-kill animal shelters in South Florida with the mission of rescuing and sheltering abandoned and abused cats and dogs with the goal of finding them new homes. APR's adoption center has about 150 cats and 30 dogs, all of which receive nutritious meals, veterinary care, enrichment and love.

APR, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, was founded in 1996 by a group of volunteers who were trapping, spaying and neutering feral cats and quickly realized the greater need to help abandoned pets and advocate for a no-kill community. APR is funded solely by generous donors and grants.
