Mr. Potato Head came in with the "toy story" group, surrendered to animal control by their owner to avoid a full-on hoarder situation after some accidental breedings. Mr. Potato Head was separated from the other males because he has committed numerous violent crimes against at least 4 rats. We are currently open by appointment only to see all the pets, but we frequently appear at farmer's markets and other local events with adoptable animals.

We are a specialty rescue for small exotic pets, such as reptiles and small mammals. We were formed by two women who met working at a nature center. In their interactions with the public they noticed a need in the area for a rescue that specialized in exotic pets, as well as a value in public education. Lost Woods Animal Sanctuary was formed with the mission to reduce mistreatment and abandonment of animals through rescue and rehoming, as well as educational outreach.
