Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Weeooo Weeooo Weeeoooooo.
This is the Chief – patching in on the radio with a public service announcement regarding finding my furever home. Spread the word far and wide, because even if you aren’t my furever home, you may connect with someone who is.
We’ll start with the humans – I need humans that will meet me where I am. I’ve gone through a LOT of change in this last year of my life. Change that no old boy should have to go through. And before this, my life had been a bit difficult living with a child who did not respect my space, my boundaries, or my body. So, at this point in my life, I’d like to be child-free from here on out. I’m in retirement. The last thing I want to become is a babysitter again.
I need humans that will be patient and understanding as it takes me some time to trust new people. I’ll enjoy meeting you, but trusting you takes time. I think that’s more than fair with all I’ve gone through and I think most people can connect to that need as well. It’s important for my humans to just let me have time to settle in, be simple. I don’t need fancy things, I just need understanding and patience.
I would love an active home, because even though I may be considered a “senior”, I run and hike with the best of em! I would love to go to a home that plans to go on LOTS of walks. I also LOVE hikes in the woods where I can sniff stuff and perk up at the squirrels. I LOVE to swim and could swim all day if you wanted. I am also a master fetcher. I have some crazy agility skills when it comes to catching a ball faster than you blinking your eyes.
I also need my down time. I enjoy napping in my crate or a dog bed, or under your feet at a desk. I sometimes dream about chasing tennis balls.
There are humans here who I have become best friends with. They gave me the time and grace in the beginning to just let me be me. And I’ve appreciated that SO much that now, when they come to hang out with me, I have the zoomies and I rub my face all over their face! I’m a lover boy at heart, but I require time to gain that trust first.
I LOVE a good car ride too. You want a dog that wants to ride around, then I’m your dude. This is when I may lose my loyalty, as I will jump in anyone’s car that wants to giver me a ride (sorry, not sorry).
My biggest fear is not finding people that will accept me for me. Think about how that must feel? Like I’m never enough in some way because I need to be better or I need to change. I’m really a simple guy once you get to know me and let me be myself. I want a simple life, but I need people who want that for me too.
Copy that?
I’m sure the folks here at Yankee will tell you more if you want to talk to them about me. But for now, I’ll be signing off.
Chief, over and out.
