Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Calling all caffeine lovers! Meet "Coffee", a 10 year old black-tri Australian Shepherd female, fostered in Thornton NH.
At 10 years old, we would consider this Coffee decaf! Still enough spunk for a daily walk, game of fetch, or run around the yard, but chill enough to hang with her human and doggie pals the remainder of the day.
Coffee weighs in at 44lbs and has a true Aussie personality - she's highly intelligent (she'll boop you and lead you to the water bowls when they're empty, for crying out loud) and "very Velcro" (always at your feet, always wants to know where everyone is).
Coffee is great with dogs and cats. Coffee has never met a stranger - she greets everyone she meets with wiggles and kisses. Coffee is great with our 9 and 10 yr old kids, but we wouldn't recommend unsupervised time with younger kids due to her drive to herd them around if they're running. Coffee will also chase and bark at our dogs in the fenced in yard - they couldn't care less, but we would not recommend adopting Coffee if you have a dog that doesn't like that herding behavior.
Coffee's ideal home would include retirees, someone who works from home, or someone who can bring her to work with them. She has mild separation anxiety, which we are able to distract her from with a treat, like a stuffed Kong. She is highly food motivated, which has made continuing her training a breeze. Coffee has not previously been crate trained, but we've started to introduce her to the idea using lots of yummy treats. Coffee is perfectly behaved when left alone in our home.
Coffee used to be a city girl, and did not have good manners at the door, but she has learned to give space and wait while folks are entering or leaving. Continued training/monitoring in this area will be important in her new home.
Coffee does not have great recall, so off-leash experiences like dog parks are not recommended. Coffee does pull a little at the start of a walk, but stops once she gets into a rhythm and will follow your lead.
We cannot over-emphasize how ridiculously sweet this little Coffee-bean is - and how easy she is. She fit right into our home and dog pack, creating instant loving connections. She is an absolute darling and would make a lovely addition to the right home. Please fill out an application to discuss adopting Coffee and to set up a meet-and-greet.
Here is the application: https://www.australianshepherdsfurever.org/adoption-application
There is an additional $20 microchip fee which includes registration and transfer to her new furever family.
