Starla Renee is an extremely loving and playful companion. She had a rough start in life. She came to CAMO from the Rio Grande Valley with heartworms and a broken pelvis, likely from a car accident. She is getting stronger every day. Her pelvis has healed from surgery and she’s received heartworm medication.
She loves her people. Her foster family says she’s a great guard dog and excellent communicator. One day when the family was out, the wind pushed the door open. Starla barked so much that her foster family checked their camera and came home immediately to lock up the house.
Starla also likes other dogs but not cats. Starla loves treats and veggies! Her foster family adds them in her meals. She also likes to play with toys.
She’s timid and scared of loud noise. Even though she’d be good with young kids, a quiet house with no young kids would be ideal. Starla is still learning that walks are safe and fun, she’s made great progress and would do best with a patient adopter who can help her build confidence. She is smart and learns quickly. She is house trained, crate trained, and knows how to sit.
If you’re looking for a loyal and affectionate companion, Starla is your gal.
She is heartworm positive but has already received the ProHeart-12 injection and is currently undergoing treatment. Will need a recheck in nine months to ensure she is on the path to full recovery.
Adoption fee is: $450
ALL adoptions require a completed application, vet check, home check and final contract. The application to adopt can be found at www.camorescue.com.
Adoption fees are variable. Up to date vaccines, microchip, spay/neuter are included in the fee.
Once your application has been approved, we will put you in touch with a CAMO representative to set up a meet and greet. We select the best applicant for each dog, based on the dog's needs. For the safety of our small breed dogs and based on our past experiences, we will not place our dogs in homes with large breed dogs.

More about this rescue
CAMO Rescue is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that offers life, health, and a forever home. We specialize in dogs that other rescues can’t or won’t take due to fearful nature or medical needs. We primarily rescue ‘euthanasia listed’ animals that are in immediate danger of death. We provide shots, spay/neuter, microchip, foster homes, food, medical treatment and love to dogs that are abandoned, unwanted or otherwise in need. We never euthanize an animal to make room for another. In addition to caring for our dogs and finding the best possible home for them, we provide education to the community; encouraging and promoting responsible pet ownership. If needed, our rescue dogs are retrained to socialize in an adoptive loving family. We have had phenomenal success, and amazing support from our community. We believe that animals, as living creatures are entitled to a quality life, respect and compassion. Since humans have domesticated animals, we have a moral and ethical responsibility to care for them. We are partnered with many Shelters to help them reach the same goal.
