My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Harstine’s journey started in an unexpected way—trapped on Harstine Island, unsure of the world around him. Despite his shy nature, this sweet boy is learning to trust and find his confidence.

Harstine would thrive in a home with a quiet farm-like lifestyle, as he is not currently a social butterfly, and is not a fan of car rides. He is good with dogs of all sizes, and shows little interest in the foster's cat. He has been around horses and ignores them.

Harstine, is a sweet, sensitive boy that would love a human to be with, and love him for the kind soul that he is, he takes a bit to warm up to strangers. Harstine currently weighs 83lbs, and loves laps, in his world, size doesn't matter! He also loves balls, however doesn't bring them back. Harstine has figured out having a pool to cool off is pretty fun! Harstine is looking for a large breed dog lover who wants to be to center of his universe. How can you not smile when you see those ears?

Go meet their pets

Our pets are currently in foster homes as well as we have a program with the local women's prison. With the prison the animals live in the room with the inmate handler and receive socialization and training. We have just recently added dogs to our program with the prison. Generally the pets are brought to our office for their meet and greets and adoptions. We also partner with Ziggy's Cat Lounge in Bremerton for our cats and kittens.

More about this rescue

We are a small but mighty Humane Society serving an underserved county with adoption, spay and neuter, wellness, stray recovery, and other animal related services. Currently we are all foster as we don't have a shelter yet, but we have a 5 acre parcel we are going to build a shelter on. We have started the planning process with Shelter Planners of America.
