My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Maui is a playful, curious, and endearing cat who loves being around people while remaining perfectly independent during the day. He enjoys being near humans and sharing everyday life, but he tends to observe from a distance at first rather than approaching new faces right away.

Once he feels comfortable, his gentle and affectionate nature shines through.
He loves being petted, playing, and above all... eating! This little foodie has quite the talent for sneaking a bite or two, so a bit of mealtime supervision is recommended. `

Due to some recent veterinary care, Maui has lost a bit of fur in a few spots, but no worries — it’s growing back slowly, and even so, his unique charm is hard to resist. He’s now looking for a loving, calm, and patient home where he can blossom at his own pace.

More about this shelter

Founded in Montreal in 1869, the Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (now known simply as the Montreal SPCA) was the first animal-welfare organization in Canada. It is not known under whose influence the society was formed, but its history acknowledges assistance from animal-welfare societies in France, England and the United States. In its early years, the SPCA concentrated primarily on improving the treatment of work horses, which were used all across the island of Montreal. The SPCA later began working on additional issues, such as humane dog control, cock-fighting and the killing of wild birds. The SPCA has come a long way since its beginnings: today, it is the largest animal-protection organization in Quebec, speaking on behalf of animals wherever there is ignorance, cruelty, exploitation or neglect.
