Miss Missy is a precious 5 year old hound mix that we pulled from a hoarding/neglect case along with her two relatives Rhaenyra and Alicent. These lovely dogs had spent their entire lives on a chain outside, so it was no suprised when their heartworm tests came back strongly positive. What was surprising is how resilient, social, and open to being loved these three girls have been throughout their time here despite arriving horribly underweight, filthy, and understandably nervous.
Miss Missy arrived in May 2025. She has now officially completed her heartworm treatment, and she's ready to move on to better and brighter things!
Miss Missy is a calm and quiet girl. She loves soft beds - the second she sees one she rushes to roll around on it and settle there - and is excelling at being a model office dog - either watching me or dozing the day away, never destructive. She keeps her space clean meaning house training should be super easy.
She has briefly met children of varying ages, and although it takes her a little bit of time to feel comfortable with them, in about 10 minutes or so she is back to being her silly self, rolling around, batting her paws in play, and wiggling in joy. She has a silly and playful side when she's happy.
Miss Missy is currently dog selective - it makes sense given that over 5 years of her life was spent on a chain alone in the woods and completely isolated from all the other dogs on the property. She plays well with Rhaenyra, her relative, so we believe that with patience and slow, proper introductions, she would eventually acclimate and enjoy other canine companions. But she'd also be perfectly content to be your one and only.
If you have a warm, soft bed and lots of love in your heart to give this sweet girl, we'd love to hear about it. Please consider making Miss Missy yours this holiday season - we'd love to give her her first Christmas indoors and with a family that truly loves her.

More about this shelter
Faithful Friends Animal Advocates, Inc is a non-profit organization committed to helping our community become a place where animals are treated with kindness and respect. Further, we want to be a voice for the welfare of animals in our community through various avenues.
We fulfill these goals by taking in homeless and vulnerable animals, rehabilitating, vetting, and preparing them for their future home, and ensuring that they are a good fit for those interested. Our goal is longevity - we are thorough when approving applications because we want their next home to be forever.
Our pledge to the animals under our charge knows no time limits. Our no-kill mission means that as long as it takes, we will keep searching for their perfect home. And if during that search, they need to rejoin our care, we welcome them with open arms no matter how long it has been.
People
From our paid staff to volunteers that support us at events and throughout the week, the dedicated and passionate community members that are involved in FFAA's mission are what keep us going. We always welcome new faces! If you are interested or know someone who would like to support our efforts, please contact us. We could not do it without our foster families, dog walkers, kennel cleaners, puppy and kitten socializers, event organizers, artists, chefs - everything we do is a group effort and thanks to the time and effort given freely and faithfully year after year.
