My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

How this pet arrived:
Merlin was brought in by his previous owner on May 9, 2025.

Why this pet is the one for you:
Meet Merlin, the little "wiz-pig" who is ready to cast a charm spell on your heart! This curious explorer loves to investigate every corner of his kingdom and is always on the lookout for his next fresh veggie snack. To live his best life, Merlin requires a spacious enclosure with plenty of room to roam, mountains of hay for munching, and cozy spots for his magical disappearing acts. Since guinea pigs are social sorcerers, he may so well with another same-sex guinea pig companion, provided they are introduced slowly and carefully. He is looking for a gentle, attentive owner who can provide daily interaction and enrichment to keep his spirits high. If you are ready to let this spellbinding squeaker to your family, bring a secure carrier and adopt him today!

More about this shelter

San Diego Humane Society, an open-admission shelter, is creating a more humane world by inspiring compassion and advancing the welfare of animals and people. Our lifesaving safety net has helped San Diego become the largest city in the U.S. to keep healthy and treatable shelter animals from being euthanized. We are a private, independent, nonprofit organization that is not affiliated with any other humane society or society for the prevention of cruelty to animals.

With campuses in El Cajon, Escondido, Oceanside, Ramona and San Diego, we provide animal services for 14 cities within San Diego County. We not only care for 50,000 animals in our communities but also share the expertise we have gained through our innovative programs with shelters nationwide so they can save more lives in their communities.

While our influence is expanding nationally, our top priority is meeting the needs of San Diego. We provide exceptional care for all animals through world-class veterinary medicine, shelter and most of all: love.
