Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Meet Silvah
Silvah is a happy, energetic boy who’s ready to trade shelter life for a home to call his own. He is fully housebroken and absolutely looks forward to his daily walks with volunteers, where he can stretch his legs and soak up the attention. He knows how to sit and is always eager to show off—especially if it leads to praise or pets.
When Silvah gets outside, the zoomies are guaranteed! He loves to run, play, and burn off his energy before settling in. His toys don’t stand a chance either. Silvah enjoys shredding them to prove who’s the boss, which is both impressive and adorable.
While he does not enjoy being around other dogs at the shelter, he more than makes up for it with his love for people. Once his energy is worn down, he turns into a total cuddlebug, curled up close and soaking in all the affection he can get.
Silvah is looking for a loving home where he can be the center of attention, enjoy his walks, unleash his zoomies, and end the day with plenty of snuggles.
If you are interested in adopting, please visit the shelter during adoption hours. Be sure to let the front desk know the name of the dog you are interested in visiting. Once you have met with the dog and an application has been approved, we will then ask to complete a meet and greets with any dog(s) that are currently living in the home or visit frequently.
Our adoption hours are as follows:
Monday, Wednesday, Friday: 12pm-5:30pm
Thursday: 2:30pm-5pm
Saturday & Sunday: 12pm-4:30pm

More about this shelter
For over a century, the Humane Society of Scott County has been a cornerstone of our community, making it a better place for both people and pets. While our mission has evolved to meet changing needs, one thing has remained constant—we are unwavering advocates for those who cannot help themselves.
As the only open-intake shelter in Scott County, we are a lifeline for animals with nowhere else to go—regardless of age, health, breed, or behavior. Without us, lost, abandoned, and at-risk pets would have no safe haven. But our work goes beyond sheltering animals—we are deeply committed to helping the people. Being a resource to pet owners allows us to do what’s best for animals and their people too.
That’s why we provide essential resources to help keep pets in the homes that love them. From low-cost vaccine and microchip clinics to our free pet food pantry, we’re here to support both animals and the people who care for them. Because at the Humane Society of Scott County, we believe that when pets and people thrive together, the entire community benefits.
