Red is a HANDSOME shepherd mix weighing in at 50 pounds around 1.5 years old! Red is a PLAYFUL pup who’s always ready to run, explore, and zoom around the yard! With tons of energy and a goofy personality, he’s sure to keep his future family smiling! He LOVES toys—truly all toys—and is just so grateful to be given any toy his foster family gives him! As he is such a loving and affectionate baby, he is still learning not to jump when he gets excited but with some redirection, Red will be able to continue to work on his manners! Red is potty AND crate trained and absolutely LOVES walks! Walks are one of his favorite activities, and he could sniff around for hours, but he could still use a little guidance on not pulling!
Red has been around older kids and does great with them. He hasn’t met toddlers or cats yet, but he warms up once he feels safe! He can be shy at first with new people, but once he trusts someone, he turns into a total cuddle bug! He especially loves giving hugs and being close to his humans! He would be a wonderful match for an active person or family with a yard and a little time to help him continue learning! Red may be bouncy and full of energy, but once he settles and feels safe, he’s one of the sweetest and most gentle boys you’ll ever meet!

Spay/neuter all animals that come into our care.
Grow a foster and volunteer network.
Support and educate the community of the importance of spay and neuter.
Keep pets with their families by providing assistance with pet food, training, vetting, or any other pet related issue, in order to keep them together and out of the shelter.
Educate adults and children to build awareness, responsible pet ownership, and the importance of spay and neuter for all animals.
Advocate for stronger laws regarding animal welfare, cruelty, and puppy mills/pet stores.
Help decrease the homeless/abandoned animal population to in turn reduce euthanasia rates at shelters and animal control organizations.
PHILOSOPHY
Successful RWAR adoptions depend on strong relationships with committed volunteers, foster homes, local veterinarians, and trainers. Through these relationships we will be able to rescue hundreds of animals every year and provide them with loving temporary care and carefully-matched forever homes.
SUPPORT
Best Friend’s Animal Society NO-KILL 2025 Goal
Reaching no-kill by 2025 means that every shelter in our country is getting the community support it needs to save every dog and cat who can be saved. *When a shelter is saving at least 90% of dogs and cats entering that shelter, it is designated as no-kill.*
