My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Westley – Your Loyal, Lovable Sidekick!

Westley is a handsome Catahoula mix with a heart as big as his goofy personality. At 50-55 lbs, he’s the perfect-sized companion for someone seeking a devoted best friend. Westley thrives on human connection and is the definition of a Velcro dog—wherever you go, he’ll be right there beside you!

He gets along well with other dogs and is even cat-friendly, making him a great addition to a home with existing pets. However, Westley is sensitive to light and sound, and sudden movements or unexpected approaches can startle him. Because of this, his ideal adopter must be experienced and highly aware of their surroundings, ensuring Westley is never put in a situation where he might react out of fear.

For Westley, a calm, child-free home is essential—somewhere he won’t be overwhelmed by unpredictable noise or commotion. His deep, unwavering bond with his people makes him an incredibly loyal and loving companion, but he thrives with structure and consistency. He has had professional training and would benefit from continued guidance to reinforce his progress and maintain his confidence.

Westley is neutered, microchipped, and up to date on vaccinations—ready to find his forever home! If you’re looking for a fun-loving goofball who will stick by your side through thick and thin, Westley might just be your perfect match.

Their adoption process

Additional adoption info

Adoption is a four part process.

Application: You will be required to submit general information along with personal and vet references.

Home visit: Potential adopters will receive a home visit by one of our members.

Meet -n- Greet: All family members (fur babies included) must meet the foster parent and pup they wish to adopt.

Here at Dirt Road Doggies Rescue, each adoption contribution is a flat rate per dog. We do not adjust this rate based on the "popularity" of a dog. We believe every dog is worthy of an owner that sees the value in them. Each adoption contribution is used to cover the expenses incurred for that dog and other dogs in our program.

Go meet their pets

Dirt Road Doggies Rescue, INC is located in the quaint town of Gillsville, in the foothills of the Georgia Mountains, just south of Gainesville. Our rescues are fostered in loving homes located in Hall, Jackson, and neighboring counties.

More about this rescue

We are a small canine rescue group located in Northeast Georgia that works tirelessly to rescue, rehabilitate, fully vet, and re-home faithful dogs that have been tossed out of cars onto rural roads. We are a registered, 501c3 tax deductible Non Profit Rescue and we are licensed by the Georgia Department of Agriculture

All dogs in our program have been previously reported to animal control to ensure they were not lost pups who had a family diligently looking for them. We do not turn a dog away due to breed, health concerns, or age. It is our goal to keep these dogs out of animal shelters, thus saving their lives and providing more time to the dogs already in shelters to find their forever family.
