Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Meet Layla
If you love a heeler, you are going to love Layla. She is a gem. Layla is incredibly sweet and affectionate. Like all heelers, she is ready for any adventure, as long as it’s with her people.
Layla is just eight months old. She has a beautiful tri-colored coat that is silky soft. She has a beautiful face, laughing eyes, a winning smile and ears that express her every emotion. She’s of medium build and athletic. Layla is wonderfully friendly, social, outgoing, snuggly, and affectionate. She is energetic but quickly settles in for snuggles. Layla will make for a terrific hiking and running buddy. She will bond hard to her person/family. She likes other dogs and lives to play. She's fine with cats, if a little playful, so making sure to do supervised introductions will be important. Like most heelers, she is very smart and would probably be easy to train. We don’t know what Layla’s life was like before coming to us. We know she was abandoned, but she definitely has moved on and has opened her heart and trust to all of us at the shelter. This little nugget is a keeper. She will make for a wonderful family companion.
If you are looking for a wonderful young dog to fill your heart and home or add a happy companion to your pack, get your application in at www.charlessmithgallhumanesociety.org. Please email our shelter (smithgallhumanesociety@windstream.net) or call our shelter at 706-865-4135 and leave a message to make sure we received your application. All adopters must complete an approval process which involves a reference check with current/recent vet and a brief home visit if located in the immediate area. We do permit out-of-state adoptions. Adopters MUST come to the shelter to transport their new family member home. We do not ship, nor do we transport them to their new homes. Adoption policies and application procedures are detailed at the shelter website: http://charlessmithgallhumanesociety.org/ under tab All Adoptable Animals.
Charles Smithgall Humane Society (CSHS) is a No kill shelter. Animals in our care remain safe with us until adopted. Resident animals are either owner relinquished rescued from area Animal Controls or high kill shelters. The facility usually operates at capacity with a list of animals waiting for space to open.
