Meet Moonwatcher and Tarin, a majestic, deeply bonded pair of Great Danes whose love for each other is as giant as they are. These two gentle house hippos have been through thick and thin together—and it shows. When separated, they lost interest in food and the world around them. But reunited, they’ve blossomed back into the quirky, affectionate duo they truly are.
Moonwatcher—our stunning merle mantle queen—is the boss of the house. Confident, smart, and always in charge, she knows what she wants: tasty treats, squeaky toys, and a soft blanket to suckle like a big puppy. She’ll happily march into a game of tug or flop down for some well-earned booty scratches. Though she’s independent and likes her own space when sleeping, don’t be surprised if she chooses you as her cuddle spot for the night. Walks and car rides light her up, but other dogs? Hard pass. She’s happiest being the only four-legged royalty.
Tarin, the sleek black shadow at her side, is the loyal protector. Though he lets Moon run the show, he’s the emotional heart of the pair. Tarin takes a little time to warm up, but once he decides you’re his person, all bets are off—he’ll lean on you, lay on you, and take over your lap like it’s his bed. He builds cozy nests out of blankets and then sprawls out belly-up like he owns the place. Rub his chest or under his chin, and you’ll have a friend for life.
These two are true couch potatoes—a fenced yard and a couple of strolls a day are all they need to stay content. They're perfectly house-trained when on a schedule, and they’ll happily chill at home as long as the garbage is out of reach and the house is free of unexpected visitors (strangers in their domain are a no-go). They love the car, love each other, and love the quiet comfort of routine.
Moon and Tarin are not built for dog parks or crowded meet-and-greets. They need a calm, steady home with older, dog-savvy kids, a predictable routine, and a soft place to land. If your idea of a good time is a drive-through pup cup run, a blanket fort on the couch, and giving belly rubs to 250 lbs of loyalty, this regal pair might just be your perfect match.
They’ve already found home in each other. Now they’re ready to find it with you.

More about this rescue
To rescue Great Danes from neglect, abuse, and abandonment while providing medical care and individual rehabilitation through our experienced and loving foster home program until we are able to provide each rescued Dane with a qualified, caring, and permanent home that will ensure a good quality of life they deserve.
To assist owners that cannot afford spaying, neutering or heartworm treatment as funds allow while also educating owners on affordable, local spay/neuter clinics, spay/neuter benefits, vaccinations, backyard breeding, behavior, nutrition, and obedience. Additionally, we want to be a link point to other rescues and clubs. Raising awareness around rescues and the Great Dane breed is of great importance to us.
We have been rescuing Great Danes since 2011 and we take pride in the collective love, concern, and dedication we have given to the misunderstood and forgotten Danes. It is our mission to continue to be the voices of the less fortunate Danes and to provide them safety and their birthright to a quality of life filled with love and dignity. You can help us achieve our mission by donating funds, items from our wishlist, items of relevance, your time through volunteering, or by lending your home as a foster.
