My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Handsome Hank!

This 6-ish-year-old, 64 lb Boxador (thats a Boxer/Lab mix!) is as charming as his name suggests.

Hank is a playful, social boy who especially enjoys other dogs that like to run and play chase. Hes done wonderfully living with another dog and would be ok having a canine buddy. He hasnt spent much time around cats, but he does have a strong prey drive for wildlife like rabbits and birds.

When hes outside, Hank is in his elementsniffing, exploring, lounging in the sunshine, or splashing in a doggie pool on hot days. He walks nicely on leash, loves a good tennis ball chase, and will sometimes even bring it back for another round!

Though he was a bit camera shy at the start of his photo shoot, a few treats and some pool time with his friend Rowdy turned him into a natural model.

Inside the home, Hank is a calm, loyal companion whos happiest hanging out near his person and keeping an eye on the world. Hes polite in public, a wonderful bed warmer, and a steady protector. Hank tends to bond more quickly with women, but he warms up to anyone who shows him patience and kindness. Hes met a few kids and did just finehed do best in a home with adults or older children.

Hank may seem a little reserved at first, but once you earn his trust (treats help a lot), youll get full-body wiggles, big goofy grins, and a buddy whos equal parts silly and laid-back. He truly is an all-around great dog.

Our adoption process takes several steps and cannot be completed in one day. All of our volunteers work full time and assist the rescue in their spare time. Please allow 2-3 business days for a response.

* Applicants must be willing to make a ten plus year commitment to their new family member.

* Applicants must commit to daily exercise, walks, trips to the dog park or play in the back yard. A well exercised dog is a happy well behaved dog!

* Applicants living in a rental property must provide proof of pet policy from landlord.

* Applicants must provide a veterinarian reference and if there are existing dogs in the household. All pets must be spayed/neutered and current on all shots and heartworm medication.

*Please allow at least a 7-14 day adjustment period for your new dog. Rescue dogs go thru a lot of changes and need a few days to get used to their new surroundings and adjust. Adopting a dog should be a serious commitment, so please be willing to work out the kinks. Our dogs aren't perfect but with proper training and guidance they make awesome, loving pets.

*Our adoption fees vary based on the age and medical needs of the dogs.
