My personality

My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Emperatriz would like to issue an official decree: She was not named after the eponymous character of a popular Mexican telenovela. She is, in fact, a Feline Empress of the Outside. (She would also like to clarify that in the cat world, empires have more peaceful connotations than they have had throughout human history.)

Emperatriz came to us from, of course, an outdoor colony. Unfortunately, due to her past injuries, she was unable to return to her life of freedom. At first, this emerald-eyed empress didn’t understand why she had been torn from her home. But as Emperatriz acclimated to life in exile, she began to appreciate a new kind of freedom—freedom from the responsibilities of leadership. Accustomed to caring for her colony, Emperatriz has enjoyed being cared for by humans, as strange and scary as they may be.

As Empress of the Outside, Emperatriz had few dealings with humans—that’s what ambassadors are for, after all. However, much like the late Diana, the “People’s Princess,” Emperatriz is a bit of a “Cat’s Queen”—she has always enjoyed spending time with the mousers in her monarchy. And although she still tends to shy away from people at Tabby’s Place, preferring to hide in a tube or up a ramp, Emperatriz takes comfort in the feline friends in her suite.

Emperatriz needs a special adopter who understands that she may never take to human affection the way she clicks with other cats. (And Emperatriz would love to share her palace with some kindred kitties.) Does your kingdom have a throne for this timid tabico to occupy? Fill out an adoption application today!

Additional adoption info

For an adoption fee of $150, you will take home a cat that has received the very best medical care and evaluation. Every cat that leaves Tabby’s Place has been thoroughly examined by a veterinarian, spayed/neutered, vaccinated, microchipped, tested for FeLV and FIV, and treated for parasites.

We are currently offering two methods of adoption meetings:
1. Adopters can meet cats in person between 2-5PM daily. Appointments are strongly recommended, but we will make every effort to accommodate walk-ins where possible. Most cats and some select kittens are available for in-person meetings.

2. Adopters can meet cats and kittens via video meeting between 10:00AM-5:00PM daily by appointment only and subject to availability. Kittens in foster homes are only available for video adoption meetings.

Get started now by completing our online application. One or our adoption counselors will then contact you within 48 hours.

For questions about adoption, please contact our adoption staff at: adoptions@tabbysplace.org.
