Dog Test: (No Dogs) Bruce is not a fan of dogs and will show his displeasure when they are in view.
Cat Test: (Okay with Cats) Bruce has been around other cats but prefers females. He will start fights with other male cats.
Kid Test: (Okay with Older Kids) Bruce gets along with kids of all ages.
Litter Box Trained:(Uses Litter Box) Bruce keeps a clean kennel.
Energy Level: (Medium-High) Meet Bruce, a striking black and white gentleman with charm to spare! This handsome boy loves to flirt his way into your heart with his affectionate personality and irresistible looks. Bruce is incredibly loving and enjoys all the attention he can get. He’s also very food motivated—especially when it comes to lickable treats! Just be warned, he loves them so much you might need to keep an eye on your fingers.When playtime comes around, Bruce goes all out! He’s a big fan of string toys and will even do impressive flips to catch them. Bruce tends to do best with female cats but can be a bit of a tough guy around males. If you’re looking for a sweet, flirty, and entertaining companion, Bruce is your guy!

Our shelter is open 7 days a week. (Excluding holidays).
Monday- Friday 8am-5pm
Saturday- Sunday 10am-2pm
We ask that you come visit any time between open and no later than 30 minutes prior to closing. This ensures that staff will have enough time to assist you in meeting one of our great furry friends!

We are a Municipal Animal Shelter for the City of Lee's Summit. We house animals brought in by Lee's Summit Animal Control Officers and Blue Springs Animal Control Officers.
Animals are also brought to us by owners that can no longer keep the animal or by strays that were impounded for running loose.
When an animal comes in as a stray, it is held for 5 days to give the owner a chance to claim it. If the owner does not claim it, on the 6th day it is put up for adoption or foster. During this 5 day holding period, if a potential adopter would like to adopt the animal, they are welcome to sign up on the adoption list. The names on the adoption list are contacted on the 6th day if no owner has made claim.
If there are no names on the adoption list, then the animal will become first come, first served when available for adoption.
