URGENT: Loving Dog Needs New Home

From his mom:

"Hi, my name is Sydney and I’m reaching out with a heavy heart because I need help rehoming my beloved dog, Bishop.

Bishop is a 4-year-old German Shepherd/Bull Mastiff mix who weighs about 85 pounds. He’s a big, sweet boy with a playful spirit and a gentle heart. He adores children—especially my 2-year-old son—and does well with other dogs and even cats, as long as introductions are done properly.

Bishop is intact and full of energy. He loves to run and go on long walks, and he's happiest when he's around people. He went through a tough time last year when I was hospitalized for over five months, and since then he’s had some anxiety—but he’s still a happy, loving companion with so much to give.

Unfortunately, life has changed drastically for us. I’m now a single mother, living with Multiple Sclerosis, and have been out of steady work for the past year. As much as it breaks my heart, I know I can no longer give Bishop the time, energy, and stability he truly deserves.

Bishop needs a loving, committed home where he’ll get the exercise, companionship, and affection he thrives on. If you have room in your heart and home for this amazing dog, or know someone who might, please reach out. This is truly a plea for help.

Thank you for taking the time to read and share."

***Disclaimer*** Unfortunately, there are not enough rooms at the inn to admit every dog that needs a furever home. But, we still want to help those dogs (and cats) on their journey! By courtesy posting, AAHA is offering our website/network as an additional resource to help an owner or shelter gain additional exposure for the dog they are trying to place. AAHA has not met nor evaluated the dog (or cat) we are courtesy posting. AAHA makes no representation about courtesy posted pets including the health and temperament and accepts no liability in this exchange. Arrangements for adoptions are made between the caretaker of the pet and the potential adopter.

We are a rescue that is dependent on volunteers as we do not have a physical building. We rent space at a kennel in Upperco, Md. If you would like to meet one of our dogs please contact us to make arrangements. Thanks!

More about this rescue

Adopt a Homeless Animal Rescue (AAHA) is a nonprofit dedicated to rescuing and assisting animals in crisis. We actively combat animal cruelty in any form.

We have a particular commitment to pit bulls and aim to raise awareness about the breed, help those in need, and educate the public:
•We seek to promote this lovely yet unfairly maligned breed as the sweet, intelligent, affectionate, and people-oriented dogs they are.
•We assume stewardship over their well-being and strive to make this world a better place for them.
•We serve as a resource and/or liaison for shelters, individuals, and the community at large, advocating for any animal in harm's way.
•We also function in an advisory role for private citizens who seek assistance and guidance in better caring for their pets.

We are a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization.

Please help us help the animals!
