My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

They say a picture is worth 1000 words so no need to say much more except that Alfie is one precious, adorably handsome little guy!!! Weighing in at 65 lbs. now that he is 9 months old, he still is quite the puppy filled with happiness, joy, sweetness and cuteness. This sweetheart of a young guy is searching for his forever home where he can fill someone's life with fun and love.

Alfie came to our Rescue from a lady who took him in because the family who had him could no longer keep him because of their age. She enjoyed him for three weeks where he lived with her cats but not being a dog person, she knew he needed to find a family who would appreciate his good manners, sweetness and good looks! After a short stay with a family who had a small dog who was afraid of Alfie, he is now back with his wonderful foster family, learning, loving and having a joyful time. .

This sweet boy has been living in a wonderful foster home with a dog and cats, but we now feel it's time for him to have a family and home of his own. His foster mom says he's just the best boy, is totally housetrained and crate trained, he loves walks, being outside in the yard chasing geckos and squirrels, snuggling on the sofa, and chewing on doggie toys. He's still a little timid of loud noises and cars but rides beautifully in one as you can see from his picture. He does know some commands such as come, sit and stay and is learning more each day. Alfie has lived with other dogs but we feel he would be best as an only because he is a big boy and tries so hard to be friends that he often overpowers the other dog which makes for an uncomfortable situation.

Alfie is believed to be a Golden Retriever/Shepherd with the best traits of those two beautiful and intelligent breeds. He is neutered, current on all vaccinations, heartworm negative, wormed and microchipped.

His new family must have a securely fenced yard, someone home much of the day, a family member able to walk him daily, no children under 9 because he is still a little jumpy and be willing to continue his training to make him the best dog he can be. It is preferable that be an only dog since he is such a large puppy with so much energy and seems to over power other dogs..
