My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Dottie is a kitten trapped in an adult body, she wants to PLAY!! Dottie is fantastic with other cats and loves to play with toys, shoes and people. She can be found snuggling and grooming other cats in the community room she stays in.

Dottie loves attention and just wants to be someone's special girl.

COMPLETED APPLICATIONS TAKE PRECEDENCE OVER INQUIRIES. If you are interested in adopting, the FIRST step is to complete an application.

Please note that our animals are rescued and transported from South Mississippi where major animal overpopulation means less homes. We only transport them if adopted, in most instances, we can be available for a video call once an application has been approved.

We are registered with the USDA and WE PERSONALLY TRANSPORT OUR OWN adopted animals to meet their new families. We transport every 2-3 weeks.

Our adoption fee includes the spay/neuter, age-appropriate vaccinations, FIV/FeLV tested, Microchip, Mississippi Health Certificate, and the transport service to get the new family pet to you

More about this shelter

Dixie Adoptables is a 501c3 rescue, operating the Lucedale Animal Shelter in Lucedale, MS. We travel up to the north monthly with all of our adopted pets.
Dixie Adoptables is one of many shelters working to get animals out of the area where shelters are always full, and adoptions of the sweet babies are hard to come by. We are grateful to every person that chooses to adopt and give a home to a loving animal, whose only fault was being born in a part of the country where their value is underappreciated and spay/neuter is done far too infrequently.
