My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Poppy-Female- DOB 06/01/2024

Well who do we have here?? We have a Poppy! A Princess!! A Petite and tiny lady that is Full of 'Cat-it-tude' and 'Tort-it-tude'!!! Poppy is a dreamy, cuddly, sweet, and beautiful fluff muffin, however we do have a few things to do a chat about.....

Poppy LOVES HUMANS!!!!!! Little humans, Medium humans, Big humans. Poppy is happy with all humans!!!!! However Poppy will NOT be thrilled to live amongst other cats though....... after all, she is A Princess!

Poppy is such an amazing cat, however she spent her early months of life on the streets and has had a few "street cat" behaviors follow her into her young adulthood. Food, water, and shelter can be hard to come by for a street cat. Poppy will do best as a single cat so she knows that she will always be safe, warm, and fed. Poppy has been doing incredible at her foster home. She has her basic needs easily met and is purrrrrrrfect.

Another situation that naturally occurs amongst animals that are in an environment where a hierarchy (or 'pecking order') is displayed... is the freedom to alleviate themselves appropriately. AKA- Go potty where they prefer to go potty.

Now, while we can only assume what Poppy endured during her life as a street cat, we are assuming that because of her tiny stature, gender, and desire to be friendly to humans, she was more than likely bullied far more than other cats. Because of this, Poppy has a condition called Feline Idiopathic Cystitis (FIC) otherwise known as Sterlie Cystitis. When Poppy is stressed, or if she doesn't have her preferred litter box style to urinate in, her bladder becomes inflammed and she starts to urinate blood. This is not a UTI (urinary tract infection), it is just the way her little body reacts to a potentially stressful scenario. And rounds of antibiotics do not help solve it.

What DOES help is a tiny little pill called Amitriptyline. She is NOT on a prescription urinary diet, she has just been on this medication since the beginning of April and has not had any accidents or issues since the middle of April. She is actually tapering off to the lowest possible dose at 1/2 tablet every other day now!!!!!!!!!! We are so thankful that we found a solution to help Poppy!!!! FIC is not only frustrating for the humans involved, it is also very painful for the cat! But now we are solving the problem and excited to help find Poppy the purrrfect home that will be able to cater to her needs the way she deserves.
