***UPDATE: Persephone needs a new foster or adopter ASAP as she is in BOARDING!***
This sweet lady might be labeled a senior with her estimated age, but “middle aged” would be more accurate. She doesn’t have puppy energy or goofiness but she still loves to be active and have fun. We suspect she’s a hound mix with some Rhodesian ridgeback coming out strong! Persephone is calm and friendly when she meets people but will become more attached and excited to see you as she gets to know you. We don’t know her history but we know she came into the shelter system not knowing much. Though she might be behind in learning she is smart and good motivated! Our resident trainer had a fun training walk with her this past week that showed with very little effort this girl will learn how to walk on leash like a dream. She has had dog friends in the past and has lived with other dogs in foster. Persephone does best with slow and proper introductions and prefers to hang out with mellow dogs. She loves her walks, enjoys the car, and truly is just so sweet and gentle with people. She’d thrive in a home with a mellow male dog or no other dog, a family with older or no kids and someone who loves to go for long strolls. Inquire about Persephone today and meet this adorable, kind hearted, gentle soul!
Persephone is a SWEETHEART who we saved when we found her on the euthanasia list at San Antonio ACS (Animal Care Services). Before we could pick her up she had a distemper scare and we had to anxiously await her test results. Thank goodness she was negative! Persephone is now with a foster and is proving to be the best girl.
After less than a day, her foster sent the following: “Update: Persephone is doing great.
She is active for her age.
She rested quite a bit.
She’s playful. She is a perfect weight for her huge frame.
She’s friendly with dogs and she’s met my cat and friends with him.
She loves face rubs and walks.
She took her meds.
She ate and drinks water.
She loves car rides. Jumps in on her own. She’s ready to go."
Persephone has made her way up from San Antonio, Texas to Colorado and is being boarded in Wheat Ridge because she was jumping the four foot fence at her foster home. We would love to get her into a foster or furever home.
Red Fern Animal Rescue offers a two week foster to adopt trial in your home before finalizing the adoption to ensure the animal is the right fit for you, everyone in the home, human & animal, and vice versa.
Red Fern Animal Rescue is a 501(c)(3) non-profit foster-based animal rescue in Denver that saves animals from abandonment and neglect in South Texas for new lives in Colorado. We primarily rescue dogs off the streets and from kill shelters in San Antonio.
