Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Sassafras comes to 4Paws from a partner rescue in Tennessee.
Sweet and petite! She craves attention from people and seriously wants to snuggle with her human and just be a Love Bug. She's very gentle in personality and likes to be handled gently as well. She does not get the "zoomies" and even when she plays with toys, it is gentle play.
It took her a while to adjust to living with other cats, and she finally came around, but her true priority is getting all the human attention that she can. She does not care about being friends with another cat, and she tolerates their presence.
She will play with toys like balls, crinkle toys and catnip mice that she can bat around the floor. But her number one wish is to have a human to dote on her all the time -- she adores being adored. She will happily jump into your lap or climb on your upper chest so she can be close to your face and give kitty kisses and nuzzle your chin. Her ideal home will have someone who works from home, or where there is at least one human home during the day to shower her with attention. She has not met any children but should be OK with a child who knows how to be gentle with her.
She is accustomed to twice-daily feedings of juicy Fancy Feast (chicken pate with gravy is the favorite but she eats other FF flavors too) and she has 24/7 access to Purina Pro Plan chicken and egg kibble. For such a little girl, she has a hearty appetite, and will eat a full can of Fancy Feast for breakfast and another for dinner, and snack on the kibble in between. She uses a high-sided litterbox with unscented litter. In her foster home, corn litter (Worlds Best) is what she is used to.
She is spayed, current on vaccines, tested negative for FiV/FeLV, and has been micro chipped.

At the adoption fairs, if you meet a kitten or cat that you want to adopt, you will be asked to complete an application and contract and leave a check for the adoption fee ($120 for an adult or $145 for un-neutered kitten of which $50 is a deposit that is refunded after you provide 4Paws proof of sterilization). We ask that you pay the adoption fee up front at the fairs in order to “put a hold” on the cat until your application is processed. If your application is not approved, your check is returned to you.
Neither cats nor kittens are sent to their new homes on the day of the fair. It usually takes 4-5 days to process the application before the cat can go to his or her adoptive home. Pre-approval is an option, though. To accelerate the adoption process, you can fax a completed application and contract to us at 703-560-9795 a few days before the fair. Adoption Applications are available on this website.

Adoption fairs are held once or twice a month at various PETCO stores in Northern Virginia. The adoption fairs are usually held on Saturday’s from 1:00 to 5:00. Between 30 and 60 cats and kittens are shown for adoption at each fair—with the larger fairs generally occurring April through October.
While they are waiting to find permanent loving homes, our cats temporarily live in foster homes. The foster families bring the cats and kittens to the adoption fairs to be seen by potential adopters. Applicants have the opportunity to handle the cats and in some cases, meet the foster parents who can provide additional insight into a cat’s habits and personality.
