My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Name: samson Age: 2? Breed: Mix Current size: medium Size potential: medium Leash trained:yes Crate Trained: unknown Potty trained: yes Kids: unknown but probably would do well Other animals: dog friendly, has not been tested with cats Energy level: high Story/background: came in as a stray, so not much background. Ideal home Samson is a great dog. He'd be a good match for an active family or a single owner who will invest time into him, such as basic tricks and obedience. He learns fast! He'd be fine with other dogs who can match his desire to play hard while in this stage of life. He is so loving and sweet. He just wants to be with you and please you. He'd be a very loyal companion.

Samson is a 55# mix that I estimate to be between 1-2 years old. He seems like a true mix, but he has an undercoat and body shape of a shepherd (to me). He is neutered, microchipped, fully vetted, and heartworm negative. He tested positive for Ehrlichia and is on 30 days of doxy for it. He had kennel cough out of the shelter but was treated and seems to be over it. He was medically released from the shelter due their allowing a dog get loose to attack and injure him. Samson has a slight limp but is still healing. The wound does not affect him at all. He is on flea/tick and heartworm prevention He is dog-friendly and loves to run and play. He can be a bit much for our older dogs and can wear out 2 of our younger dogs at the same time. He can also calmly lay beside you and allow you to pet him. He is affectionate and soaks in attention and affection, too. Samson seems quite intelligent. I believe he'd be easy to train. He is in an outside kennel (10'x10') but hasn't soiled it since his first week with us. He waits for us to let him out. He may need some house and crate training. He has been in our house, but not long enough to see if he's housebroken or not. He moves well on a leash. He loves to play fetch and actually brings the ball back! He is a good eater, but doesn't over eat. If not hungry, he'll leave food in his bowl. He does not resource guard with food or toys, but will bark at and try to steal toys from other dogs that have a toy he wants. Our dogs don't resource guard, so this wasn't a problem for us. He chewed two dog beds up, so he's not out of that puppy chew phase yet. We see him on his kennel entertaining himself with toys. He sleeps on rugs and sometimes sleeps in his open-doored crate.
