Rocket is a 1-year-old Chihuahua mix with a big personality packed into a tiny 10-pound frame. Found as a stray in Pampa, Texas, Rocket ended up in a small, under-resourced shelter—but he didn’t let that dampen his spirits. He quickly made friends with the staff and other dogs at the shelter.

"Rocket is a sweet, silly little man!! The day I took him home he was a bit nervous (but he just arrived on a big van full of dogs to Colorado) and as soon as we got home he settled right in! He bonds to people quickly, so I know he'll have no problem acclimating into his forever home. He will be timid with new people for the first maybe 5-10 minutes, but he warms up fast.

He is quite obsessed with me, but not in a bad or annoying way! He just is my little shadow around the house; i.e. follows me if I go to the bed room or the bathroom, and wants to cuddle on my lap if I sit down. He doesn't seem to have any separation anxiety, though! He sleeps in a crate overnight without making a sound.

Rocket LOVES other dogs and love love loves to play! He would love a home with another small, playful dog so he has a play buddy.
I have 6 dogs and he does great with every one of them.

He is potty trained! He had one accident in my house the first day he came home, and his last foster said that he only had an accident in the first few days also. Since that, he goes outside 100% of the time.

He's just a really good dog! He's young and playful but also knows how to settle down and cuddle."

We don’t know if Rocket has had any formal training, but a (virtual or in-person) positive reinforcement group training class will help him build confidence, bond with his new family, and master good manners. Training is essential for a successful adoption, and Farfel’s is happy to provide a list of recommended force-free trainers to set him up for success.

Rocket has been fully vetted, is up to date on vaccines, and neutered.

Farfel's Rescue is a fully foster based rescue, and offers a one week trial with every adoption. We feel that this is much more beneficial to not only the dog, but the adopter too. We believe that only getting 20-30 minutes with a dog before deciding on a lifetime commitment is not a fair amount of time to the adopter, or the dog. Therefore we give adopters one week with the dog to assure it is the right fit, and offer a full refund of their adoption fee should it not workout within the week trial.
