He wasn’t the cat his rescuer was looking for. But somehow, he knew she was there for him.
Every day, Mango’s rescuer stopped by a Bojangles drive-thru to feed an older, shy community cat — always hoping to gain his trust. But one morning, a different cat appeared. Young, orange, and full of quiet confidence, he walked right up to her like he’d been waiting.
That cat was Mango.
From the moment they met, Mango leaned into her hand, purred softly, and looked up with eyes that said, “I’m ready.”Since then, he’s shown just how loving and special he truly is.
Mango is about a year old, neutered, fully vaccinated, and thriving in foster care. He’s endlessly affectionate — he purrs the second you pick him up, gently follows you from room to room, and loves cheek rubs, naps in the sun, and soft toys.
He is FIV+ (feline immunodeficiency virus), which just means he should be kept indoors and get regular vet care — just like any cat. FIV+ cats can live long, healthy lives and can even live peacefully with non-FIV cats. It doesn’t change how much love Mango has to give.
Mango has come a long way. He’s safe now. But he’s still waiting for the one thing he hasn’t had — a forever home.
