Delilah came to the shelter on 6/20/25 after her owner passed away and family members were unable to take her in. She is a happy, energetic girl with a big personality who would do best in a home with older children. In playgroup, Delilah is selective with other dogs, offering greetings and appropriate corrections and occasionally showing mild assertiveness, but she remains respectful and especially enjoys spending time in the pool. Volunteers consistently describe her as easy to leash, walking with a moderate pull, and loving to run and play in the yard. She is very affectionate, happily rolling over for belly rubs, and is highly treat-motivated—often giving an endearing look when returning to her kennel in hopes of a reward. Known as a “house hippo” by staff and volunteers, Delilah is a joyful, fun-loving dog who would thrive in an active home ready to give her the engagement and companionship she deserves.

You are invited to meet our pets anytime during our business hours. We also have cats available at the Ocala Petsense (East Silver Springs Blvd) store everyday. We regularly have adoption events which we advertise on our Facebook page.

Marion County Animal Services is the largest animal shelter in our county. Operating as a no-kill shelter, our kennels are almost always full. We provide adoption, fostering opportunities, work with rescues, accept volunteers and provide the training for veterinary assisting students. In addition, we run the Neuter Commuter and provide all animal control services in Marion County.
Due to the sheer volume of animals in our care, we need lots of help from our community in our effort to adopt out more and save more!
We don't only accept the ideal animals into our shelter. We can offer you quite the array of animal breeds and personalites! Keep an open mind when visiting our shelter- you may find that your perfect match is not at all what you set out to find.
