Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Gino is located in Staunton, VA and looking for a new crib. Please ready his story below. If you can help Gino find his spot, please reach out to us at 5404681575 or info@highlandcountyhumanesociety.org We'll get you in touch with his owner
From Gino's mom:
In early 2019, we trapped what we thought was a tiny, pregnant, female kitten. ‘She’ was a stray that had been hanging around our home. As it runs out, ‘she’ was a ‘he’. Because he was so young, we decided to keep him after he was neutered at the SPCA. We named him Gino.
Since that time, Gino has been an indoor only cat. He continuously talks to another stray black cat that we feed----we wonder if they are related??. Despite our care and attention, Gino has never lost his stray, feral-like behavior. While he has made a lot of progress, he remains aloof and is a hands-off cat. He is easily frightened and, overall, is quite skittish. We are allowed to occasionally pet him. However, he sleeps on my niece’s beds with her and the small dog(s) but always at a distance from others on the bed, including my niece.
He has lived with other cats and small dogs (<20 lbs.). He is litter box trained and, except during periods of stress, will use the litter box. These periods of stress will lead to acting out behavior---e.g. not using the litter box.
While we have done all that we can to eliminate as much stress as possible, we have had to accept that our home may not be the best place for Gino to thrive. We want him to feel safe and be stress free.
Gino is neutered and up to date on vaccinations and preventatives.
