My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Welcome to the Wonderful World of Rescue Dachshunds.  Look around and read their bios.  Find a few whose personality seems to fit well.  Consider one of our Well Seasoned Seniors who are truly wonderful and have so much to offer.  Need help finding the best fit?  We'll help with that too.  Please fill out an application and let’s get you all matched up with a loving new “furever’ companion and friend. You’ll find the application on the “Available Dogs” page.  NOTE:   Adoptions to Central/South Texas residents only

Please see FAQs for current adoption fees.  DDRTX only adopts in Central/South Texas.

Puppy #2 of 4 - Momma is Honey Bea

Fanta Orange is one of the Soda Pop Pups.  She was in a shelter with her mom, Honey Bea and brother, Barq’s Root Beer and sister, Ginger Ale.  She has light red smooth fur and a black muzzle. She weighs about 12 lbs. She was probably born in March of this year.
Fanta is a sweet, shy girl.  She loves playing with the dogs in her fosters home. She loves toys, Especially the squeaky kind! Fanta has fun chasing around the yard with all the other dogs!
Fanta loves to lay on your lap or beside you for naps!! She will roll over on her back so her belly can be rubbed. She sleeps in a doggy bed beside the big bed.
Fanta eats really fast so a slow feeder is best for her.

Love dachshunds and not ready to adopt or circumstances won't permit having a dog?  How about being a sponsor or making a donation.  Every one of our dachshunds receives excellent medical care along with day to day food, love and housing.  Being non-profit, we rely on generous individuals like yourselves to help save these fur babies.  You can do this specifically for one dog with the sponsor button on their webpage or a general donation on our “How To Help” page.  Easy and quick through Pay Pal or your debit/credit card.  You generosity is sincerely appreciated by all and is tax deductable.  Need other ideas?  You'll find tons of them on the How to Help tab.  All contributions are tax deductable.

More about this rescue

Diamond Dachshund Rescue of Texas is an all volunteer group in the heart of Texas that is dedicated to the health, welfare and happiness of our dachshund friends. We are based in San Antonio, Texas but we have fosters/volunteers in Austin, San Angelo and DFW areas. We are a 501(c)(3) tax exempt organization. As such, we must rely heavily on donations and contributions to be able to pay the costs of health care, administrative needs, and other necessary expenses for each of our dachshunds. Diamond Dachshund has rescued, rehabilitated and placed approximately one hundred dachshunds each year since our incorporation in 1998. That's a lot of happy, healthy dogs and equally happy families! We strive to find the right home for each dog's individual personality and needs, so that the placement is permanent and both the dogs and the humans who adopt them, are equally happy.
